Amy Groening is a Canadian Screen Award nominated actor born December 21 1989 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Amy’s first obsession was dance, studying modern and ballet for all of her formative years. Her first step into acting business was when she met grind-house filmmakers Astron-6 during her Honours Degree studies at the University of Winnipeg. This collaboration led to her first lead role in their feature film FATHERS DAY produced by Troma Entertainment. From there she began to expand her resume as a film and television actor, doing such projects as 20th Century Fox's GOON and Space Channels TODD AND THE BOOK OF PURE EVIL. 

Amy then studied in New York City studying Meisner acting technique at the Neighbourhood Playhouse Theatre followed by some large bookings in Toronto Ontario. Including NBC Universal pilot HORIZON with executive producer Gale Anne Hurd of the WALKING DEAD, and recurring character on CW’s REIGN and a leading role on CW’s comedy series BACKPACKERS. 

A true Canadian at heart Amy began to spend part of her time in Atlantic Canada with her family and in doing so became a staple of the east coast film community. Working on CBC's season 8 of MR.D and over 6 feature including BONE CAGE - for which she is nominated for a 2021 Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Amy is now delighted to be based across Canada spending time in her hometown of Winnipeg MB, Atlantic Canada and Toronto. Upcoming projects include indie feature TO THE MOON, and multiple Hallmark films including THE SANTA SUMMIT.
